Madewell sweater (last season, similar here) / Express button front skirt / Clare V leopard clutch / DV Dolce Vita booties / Target necklace (old)
I've long romanticized the 70s despite my mother's insistence that it was all bad hair, boring colors and horrifying fabrics. I choose to believe that any decade that produced all that sweet, sweet music and whose style trends consistently crop up, reimagined, every fall couldn't have been anything but magical (she says through the rose-colored glasses of someone who missed it by a good twenty or so years).
This autumn my beloved era is absolutely everywhere, and I have to admit that it's taken some restraint not to drape myself in a full-on 70s costume everyday. I think one of the most wearable pieces to emerge is the button-front skirt. The rest of your outfit could be as simple as it gets and it still exudes a cool, retro feel. My poison of choice is this faux suede version, but it's also just as awesome in denim and corduroy.
