Glacier National Park: Day 2

After our drive and hiking excursion, we headed over to the Many Glacier Hotel where we’d be spending the night. It was by far my favorite place we stayed all trip. The hotel opened in 1915 and was designed to look like a Swiss chalet as a way to entice vacationers to come visit the ‘American Alps’.

{The hotel overlooks a lake and more of that beautiful Glacier Park terrain.}

It felt so cozy and was the perfect halfway respite from our trip. Not to mention we had some elk quesadillas at the hotel restaurant that pretty much haunt my dreams. I’m talking life alteringly good.

The next morning we woke up and enjoyed our amazing view on the balcony for a little while. Then we headed off to explore the lakes around the hotel.

As we returned from our hike we noticed a little bit of commotion just before our hotel. In these parts that only means one thing: bear!

Just a little brown bear, munching on some huckleberries.

Unfortunately we were only able to stay one night (budgets and schedules and lame things like that), but I easily could have spent a few days just relaxing. That’s certainly my idea of a vacation. Also, once we left it meant we still had get out of Montana, which feels like it takes forever. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a gorgeous state and we soaked it all in (including an insane thunderstorm). However, seriously, it’s gigantic and takes awhile to drive out of.

  1. Oh my goodness these photos are beautiful! I have never been to Glacier National Park even though I don't live too far away. I need to put it at the top of my to do list!

  2. Oh wow--my husband always talks about visiting Glacier someday, and that looks like a beautiful place to stay...but it's probably a 2 or 3 day drive from where we live!

  4. Seriously that hotel is awesome!

    And I'm so jealous you saw a bear. My parents used to see them all the time when they live up north but I have yet to see one!
