Glacier National Park: Day 1

What can I say about Glacier that hasn’t most likely already been said? Amazing views are a dime a dozen there and no one is complaining whatsoever. On our first day there we drove the Going-to-the-Sun Road which famously crosses the whole park. Granted, it was totally packed and at times you were just inching along in your car, but we hardly cared because it allowed us to take in the stunning views for that much longer.

About halfway through the drive, we did a quick little hike along one of the rocky faces that overlooks the road. After hearing that there had been sightings earlier in the day, James was hellbent on seeing a grizzly bear. I, however, was not.

See the photos after the jump!

{This picture would be the view I’m looking up at in the photo before it.}

{My first marmot sighting! I’ve heard many a tale of these infamous beasts during the hardcore Sierras hikes the boys went on.}

Such splendor! It’s very easy to see why this is one of the most popular national parks in the country. Montana in general is pretty amazing, so I would highly suggest you visit at some point in your life if you can!

Next up: More from Glacier, where we got to spend the night in a beautiful hotel in the park. Now that’s my kind of overnight experience!

  1. These pictures are STUNNING Melina, wow!

    1. Thanks, though it's really impossible to take a bad picture there. ;)

  3. these pictures are unreal - what beauty!

  4. Living on the coast, I've come to think being inland would be pretty much the worst thing ever, but having those mountains within view might not be a bad deal afterall.

    1. Yeah I'm totally with you about living on the coast, but it sure is a beautiful trade-off!

  5. So so beautiful. This is making me want to get to the mountains ASAP!
