style for a steal

original // jacket (even cheaper option!), sweater, necklace, shorts, loafers (nicer option)

The thing about recreating J. Crew looks is that they always revolve around one really special piece that is usually quite unique to the store.  So when I stumbled across these shorts from Forever 21 that had a similar feel to the J. Crew ones (sold out, unfortunately) from their lookbook, I knew I had to do a style steal for it.  I’m also loving any look that incorporates a utility jacket.  I’ve owned one for quite awhile now and it’s hands-down my most worn jacket.  I would be so bold as to brand it a wardrobe essential.  If you don’t feel like paying a bit more for the Dorothy Perkins one, this one looks to have that long, slouchy-cool feel to it as well (I also love how you can roll the sleeves!).

Also, if you’re more interested in a mint tweed short, these scalloped shorts are very cute too, just a bit more blueish than the J. Crew ones…  Who knew there’d be so many options to recreate this look??
