Stripes & Maxi Skirts

Are you all sick of this theme yet?  Well I’m not, so onto today’s post!  My inspiration image today is from a Madewell ad that ran a little while back.  I’ve always loved everything about this outfit, it’s simple, has the perfect striped top (I wish I owned something even close to it), a solid maxi skirt and it’s pulled together by a nice leather belt.  I would say my version is a bit winterized.  The only comparable striped top I own is a sweater and I used my recent thrift find: a long, wool skirt.  But hey, at least I had a leather belt!

I was so psyched when I found this skirt and immediately tried it on over what I was wearing (ahh, thrift shopping).  It naturally sits just above my hips, so I knew it would be perfect belted at my waist.  It’s funny how unbelted it looks rather frumpy, but by simply cinching it in and, thus, raising the hemline it looks sort of vintagey-chic.

Overall, I kind of felt like some sort of 1930s explorer girl.  This type of high-waist belting always reminds me of that.

  1. Love the color of your skirt SO MUCH. And those boots too!

  2. I love your version! I think the camel colored skirt makes it better than the original you went from :)
