DIY Glitter Boots

glitterboots

When you cut to the chase, I am a simple girl attracted to bright, shiny, sparkly objects.  So naturally I drool through most of December with all the glitzy and shimmery fashion inspiration that floats around the internet during the holiday season.  However, this year there was one picture that I stumbled across that made my heart go a-flutter.  You’ve most likely seen it (and I’ve already included the object of my desire in a wish list post), but I’ll show you again anyway because it’s just so pretty!

Yes, those boots.  The boots heard ‘round the world, if you will.  Luckily there are also some pretty fantastic tutorials out there because everyone and their mother has DIY-ed these bad boys.  Personally, I followed the tutorial on Pretty Shiny Sparkly to a T.

The most laborious part was the entire day I spent searching for the perfect pair of boots to get crafty on.  I literally went to seven different stores because I’m crazy before I wandered into Aldo and found their Qualheim boot.  Unfortunately they’re sold out online, but check your local stores because mine were on super sale (they were originally $100… I paid about $30).

So, with the of help of my ever-crafty mother, I got to work.

The only thing I did differently than the tutorial is seal them twice.  First with an acrylic spray sealant and then the next day with Mod-Podge.  Mostly because my father was convinced I was going to leave a trail of sparkles everywhere I go.  As if that’s a bad thing…

I had both sealants on hand anyway, so I figured: why not?  Despite the males in my family thinking they were quite flashy, I am so pleased with how they came out!

Glitterific!  I need to go unpack pronto so I can wear them all day, every day.  For the rest of my life.  Always.

  7. omisogh omigosh omigosh.

I kind of just arbitrarily clicked on your blog because "but i like it" reminded me of feature posts that I do called "like what you like."

    But that's not the point.

The point is that this was clearly the first thing I saw and my heart stopped and I fell in love and I thought "I must do that" and also maybe you're my soulmate?

Overkill? Okay. I LOVE THESE BOOTS. What a cool idea!

Following along now! Stop by reverie and say hi! :)

    Love,
    Sarah
