An Ode to Things

Today commenced in such a way that, within an hour of waking, I teetered dangerously on the edge of becoming Crabby Melina.  So instead I did something quite out of character and decided to just focus on the positive.  It is Thanksgiving week after all, one should really try to reel in the bitter behavior if at all possible.

So I give you my Ode to Things:

An ode to pretty trees.

You try so hard to change colors and make me feel almost like I am back in New England and almost like it’s really fall.

An ode to the dollar store.

Ahh dollar store, I could wax poetic about thee for hours.  You are within reasonable walking distance.  You have things I can use in a bind.  You are like America: a cultural melting pot of sweatpants and Louis Vuitton, Mercedes and beat-up POS cars.  You have coffee filters for me when I wake up to a lack thereof.  Also see: An ode to myself (for not impulse buying a single thing!).

An ode to the weather.

You allowed me to dress like this.  Though it may have been a bit overkill.  However, I just finished making that cowl so I was going to wear it.  Regardless of the weather.  (Apologies for looking like I’m going to kill you.)  Which brings me to…

An ode to Ravelry.

Your numerous free crochet patterns make my heart go pitter-patter.  Also, your opening page?  Humor after my own heart.

An ode to rain boots.

I definitely could not have forded the river that was our street yesterday during the rain without you.  My car is very grateful because it, in turn, did not float away.

An ode to Fair Isle patterned socks.

You just make me smile.

Finally…

An ode to my cup of coffee.

Better late than never, I always say.
