Muddy Buddies

mbuddies5

If you’ve never heard of Muddy Buddies then you need to stop reading this drivel and immediately make them because, seriously?  Food of the GODS!  And to think I had forgotten all about the delicious peanut buttery, chocolatey, confection sugary goodness until I stumbled across the recipe again on Pinterest.  God bless the internet.  I’ve made it twice in less than a month (and have had some serious issues sharing with James) and will probably wind up making a half batch tonight because I just went through all these pictures and… well, self-control isn’t my strong suit when peanut butter and chocolate are involved.

So let’s do this!

Muddy Buddies (recipe from the back of the Chex box)

  • 9 cups of Chex
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar

Measure out the cereal.  Yes, nine cups seems like a lot, but don’t worry… it’ll be gone by tomorrow.

Oh my little chex friends, you are about to become awesome.

Now, in a microwave safe bowl combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter.

Awwwww, yeah.  Do we need another angle?  I think so:

That’s pretty much everything I love in life, right there.  Maybe you could throw in some cheese and my kitties, but that would probably make it a little less appetizing.  Anyway, microwave this for 1 minute on high.  Stir.  Microwave for around 30 more seconds or until the mixture stirs smooth.  Stir in the vanilla.

Pour this mixture over the cereal and stir until it’s evenly coated.  Then put the cereal into a re-sealable plastic bag and add the powdered sugar.  Shake until the cereal is well coated.

Store in an airtight container if you’re weird and don’t eat it all in one sitting.

Seriously, it’s so easy and so delicious you need to go and make it this very second.  No I know, it’s okay, I’m going to make it too.  Let’s meet back in like 20?
