Just one of those days.

bleh

There are those days when I really want to go to my parents and be like, “Look, I know you were young when you had me, so I reserve all judgment… really I just need to know: how many times, approximately, did you drop me on my head?”

Today was one of the aforementioned days.

I know I’ve mentioned before how I am driving a lot for my job, but the thing is, I drive to mostly the same 3 places.  Well recently one of the places has had this weird, road paving-esque smell to it that has been bothering my nostrils.  However there is no road work to be found and I am all, but where is it coming from?!

Today as I walked on back to my car I took note of all the touristy sillies hanging out at the La Brea Tar Pits.  Oh yeah… the tar pits.  That are across the street.  Always there.  Probably where that tar smell is coming from, huh?

So I begin to thoroughly question if maybe all this California sun is frying my brain or something.  Engrossed in these thoughts, I approach my car and realize the car is running.  As in, engine is on.  My little standard is somehow on, meaning I somehow left it in neutral instead of first gear like I always, always do (if I leave the car on and in first gear and take my foot off the clutch it stalls, for those who drive cooler automatic cars) and I’ve also somehow just forgotten my keys and to lock it and oh. my. god!

I lunge for the passenger side door, as it is the closest to me, and about .2 seconds before my hand hits the handle I realize there is a person in the drivers seatIn my car!!  … oh…

Yep.  Not my car.  Same model and color and needs to be washed just as much as mine does, but not mine.  I passed my car two spots ago.

I about-faced so fast I almost feel bad (because seriously I probably freaked that poor girl out).  Luckily James has been on a cleaning frenzy all night, so I’m almost certain my brain is bound to show up somewhere under the clutter!

  1. Oh hon, you aren't the only one. I had my blinker on last night to turn into my driveway and then realized that not only was my house further ahead but I was trying to turn onto someone's yard. Yeah.

The person behind me probably thought it was funny though.

  3. I have totally done the same thing except no one was in the car. I think I would have had a heart attack if I was in your shoes! At least it made a great blog post!
