Invasion of the 5 ft 10 Women

day6day6-3

People, I must tell you about this experience I had today.  Does it relate to this outfit?  Surely; I was wearing that skirt when it happened.  Bam, relevant.  Anyway, so I had a job interview and I wore this skirt (and sort of broke the rules of the 30 for 30, except I make the rules and I say interviews are fair game) because it said to be stylish and I’m liking this skirt pretty hard right now.  Plus, I mean, it’s orange… that makes you stand out, right?  Well the lady complimented it, so I say it’s all good.  However, this has nothing to do with my story.

So I drive the long drive to the interview place, traversing several highways and using my own internal compass since all the GPS maps seemed to think this place was actually on the highway.  But again, this has nothing to do with the story.  I just wanted to throw that in there because I’m rather proud of myself.

But really what happened was I get to the office and open the office door and find myself in the middle of a waiting room filled with about ten girls.  And I swear to the high heavens, not a one of them was under 5’10.  Apparently stylish meant, be a model.  Now I don’t want to shatter any wonderful illusions you have of me, but I clock in at about 5’3 on a very good day and am, well, not so much a model.  I mean, it’s all good, I just convinced myself that I was the only one with actual experience and that my sparkling personality would win them over as opposed to my leg length.  But I’ll be damned if that wasn’t the most bizarre, LA experience I’ve had whilst interviewing.

day6-4

Also, there was a Sex and the City episode called something like ‘The Land of the 5’10 Women’ or something along those lines (which I obviously referenced in my title).  I feel like I should probably watch that tonight.  Let’s face it, Carrie is way better than any model.  And she’s only 5’4 + Manolos.
