Alrighty everyone, here it is: the beginning of my 30 for 30 style challenge. If you have not heard of this before, it is an exercise in working with the clothing options you have that was created by the fabulous Kendi. You can read more about it here, but the gist of it is that you pick out 30 items of clothing (including shoes, not including accessories) and use only those 30 items to make 30 outfits. Men probably call this ‘life’.
So without further ado, here are my selections:
{dark jeans: Gap, light jeans: Forever 21, white pants: Gap & white shirt: Bella, yellow striped shirt: Urban Outfitters, grey tee: Gap}
{striped shorts: J. Crew, red shorts: diy cut-offs, Old Navy}
{olive shirt: Old Navy, chambray shirt: Aeropostale, pinstripe shirt: Gap & navy cardi: J. Crew, coral cardi: thrifted}
{navy tank: Forever 21, olive ruffle top: Old Navy, purple ruffle top: J. Crew, white embellished top: Forever 21}
{orange skirt: Anthropologie, striped & khaki skirts: Forever 21 & navy convertible dress: J. Crew, striped dress: Forever 21, maxi dress: Old Navy}
{3/4 sleeve jacket: Forever 21}
{tan boots: Forever 21, wedges: Sofft Shoes, mocs: Minnetonka, red shoes: Toms Shoes, white oxfords: Steve Madden Tastees, open-toed shoes: Chinese Laundry via Shoe Dazzle}
So there you have it. I am clearly banking on the weather to be typical SoCal weather- hence a jacket that is only 3/4 sleeved- and I’m also still in the final stages of healing from the foot incident- hence all the flat shoes. In all honesty, if I were capable of wearing heels, picking out shoes would have been the hardest part of narrowing down my wardrobe.
Now upon looking at my selections, I’m a little worried that I picked totally boring pieces, but whatever. We shall see. And hey, the whole point is to get creative and be happy with the wardrobe you have when this is all over (or at least that’s what I’m hoping for). So yes, there will be absolutely zero shopping for me during these 30 days as well. Tough stuff people, but I think we can do it (We? Do I sound like I’m leading you into battle?).
I don't think these are boring - they're lovely and versatile and can create endless combos :) Am a new reader, can't wait to see what outfits you come up with!

These aren't boring! They are full of color and life. And if you picked the craziest fabrics, you'd have the craziest, most "un fun" time sorting through them. Basics are good!
ReplyDeleteGood luck Miss!

You get as many accessories as you want, right? It's good to have basic pieces that all work with one another, and you've got lots of great colors in the mix!
