joshua tree national park

The desert is really one of my favorite places and I was beyond excited that I was able to share it with Kristi while she was out here.  It's interesting to look back on all the pictures I took because you can definitely tell I was a little off.  I'm not always awesome at getting horizon lines and things of that nature perfectly straight, but there were so many crooked photos in this batch!  Throughout Kristi's stay, you could see my pictures of us getting more and more askew as my fever took over and the lethargy set in.  I find it far too fascinating and a bit hilarious.

In all honesty, Joshua Tree is actually a really great place for unexpected fatigue to set in.  Of course this is assuming you've brought in copious amounts of fluid (which we did... Kristi and I may have gone overboard buying water for the trip and I couldn't have been more thankful for that later on).  However, a lot of the sights of the park are accessible by vehicle and short nature trails.  So really anyone can get a taste of what the park has to offer without exerting much energy at all.  And trust me, even when I was there and completely healthy that dry, hot desert can get to you quicker than you'd think.  So it was really nice that, on the second day, nothing beyond some quick walks was required and I was still able to show my friends my favorite parts of 'the Tree'.

Anyway, sorry for the picture overload.  I just love this place so much.  Definitely check it out if you're ever in the area.  It's super close to LA (about two hours away, depending on traffic) and definitely an escape from the daily grind.
