Leopard Life

If I ever wind up in a situation where someone has a gun to my head and inexplicably is demanding I choose one print for the rest of my life, I would tell them that the gun is a little much. I mean, duh, it would obviously be leopard print, my one true love. Seriously, please see exhibit A, B, C, DE (yeah, I dug into the archives for that last one). On a regular basis I actively have to restrain myself from purchasing items in the print and thoroughly plan on aging into my ever-growing collection. I expect by the time I'm in my 70s I'll own nothing but leopard and will be sadly disappointed if I'm known as anything other than 'The Leopard Lady'.  #goals

For now I will try to remain respectable about it.

Field Jacket + Leather Leggings

Madewell Outbound Jacket (similar here & here) / Splendid striped top / Glamorous faux leather leggings / F21 studded boots (similar here) / Nordstrom reversible tote / F21 Necklace

I've begun rotating all of my cold weather favorites back into my wardrobe. I've probably waxed poetic about many of these items before, especially these old boots. I've always told myself if I ever struck it truly rich and could afford to just drop ungodly amounts of money on a pair of boots, I'd replace these with the real deal Chloe version. However, I feel like those couldn't take the beating these trusty boots have over the years. Without even realizing it, I paired them with my go-to field jacket and favorite faux leather leggings. Throw on the tote that carries absolutely everything and a comfy striped shirt and you basically have my cold weather staples in a nutshell. A little texture, some stripes, a jacket to cut the newly present bitter wind and my beater boots. Boom.

Over-sized Cable Knit Sweater + White Denim

Dreamers by Debut cable knit sweater / Zara jeans (old, similar here) / F21 crossbody bag (similar here & here) / Qupid zipper booties

It's interesting that I seem to only wear my white jeans after Labor Day. There's just something about pairing them with boots and sweaters that feels so fresh. This particular sweater is the stuff of dreams. It's quite over-sized which will make it perfect for adding another layer come the frigid winter. Also, how can you pass up a good cable knit pattern? It's basically impossible.

Good luck with your Monday. I hope you all survive!

Fall Warmth

Uniqlo Turtleneck / Express Button Front Skirt / Vince Camuto Karita Boots (similar here & here) / Clare V Leopard Clutch

It's been unexpectedly warm here and I've been trying to take advantage of it as best I can. 70s in November? You won't hear me complaining! It's the ever-elusive skirt and sweater/turtleneck/long-sleeve weather. A combination I don't get to trot out all that often since I moved away from Los Angeles. I also broke out my over-the-knee boots for the season. I'm still beyond positive that in my particular New Hampshire town it's just me and that one girl I saw at the movie theater once that own a pair, but I can't be bothered to care. Like it or not NH residents, they keep me warm and help me look taller. I'm keeping them and you can give me all the side-eye you want!

Fall Colors

BP Plaid Scarf / J. Crew Denim Jacket (old, similar here) / F21 Jeans / Zara Tee / F21 Crossbody Bag (similar) / Charlotte Russe Side Zip Booties

And just like that it's November! How is that even possible? The fact that there's going to be a holiday explosion any second now is a little unsettling, but I guess it's something to look forward to since most of the leaves have fallen and it's going to start getting pretty grey around these parts.

I think I'm still doing a good job with my fall goal of wearing more color though! Here's hoping I can keep it up with the sun setting earlier and the cold weather that I'm sure is right around the corner. Lucky for me, the fall offerings this year were bursting with colors that were easy to pair with your existing wardrobe. Like this scarf I picked up at Nordstrom - it adds such a nice autumnal tone regardless of what you pair it with. Also it's a blanket scarf, which means I wear it as a giant shawl 95% of the time.

Witchy Woman

F21 Maxi Dress (sold out, options herehere & here) / Shoemint Booties (similar here & here) / Belt

I had "Witchy Woman" on a loop in my head while wearing this dress, so obviously I rolled with it for this post. It's pretty Halloweeny in fact! Though really, that song just reminds me of Seinfeld and Elaine...

Also, I would have never dreamed of wearing this much black before I had blonde hair. It just seemed way too moody for me to pull off. I was always more prone to wearing blues and greys, but now I seem to want an edge to my outfits. Black cuts the inherent girliness that comes with this hair. I promise I'll stop talking about hair color soon. It's just been pretty obvious to me after looking at the past couple of outfits I've worn.

Anywayyy, happy Friday and Happy Halloween!!!

And best of luck dealing with that miserable thing known as 'daylight savings' ending. :(

Affordable Boyfriend Jeans + Trendy Lace-Up Flats

F21 Coat (old, similar options here, here & here) / River Island Lace-Up Flats / F21 Frayed Ankle Jeans (one size up) / Old Scarf (similar here)/ Old Navy Tee (similar here) / Modcloth Aviators / Nordstrom Reversible Tote

I'll let you in on a little secret, I've had the best luck with Forever 21 boyfriend jeans. The trick is to buy a pair of slim-to-skinny jeans (just anything other than super skintight jeggings) in one size up from your regular size. The problem with cheap skinny jeans is that they tend to stretch out a lot over time. So that flaw works in your favor in attaining that slouchy-yet-streamlined silhouette you're going for with a boyfriend jean. Also, since I find the look a little trendy, it doesn't hurt that Forever 21 won't break the bank.

Speaking of trends, let's take a moment to admire the lace-up flat. I'm a sucker for any shoe that skews either elfin or witchy and have been overjoyed with the pointed toe trend (rounded toe shoes are the enemy of us small footed folks). Add to it whimsical lace-up detailing and an obnoxiously bright color? Be still, my heart!

But like, not to over-romanticize it or anything...
